Almost one year ago, Knowing the Times hit the blogoshpere. My initial focus was to log my thoughts and persuasions in the arena of Bible prophecy. Who would have known that outing certain unscriptural giving practices was going to take center stage? As I found myself compelled to write about what seemed at the time to be side issues, the thought crossed my mind that if I didn’t get back to writing on prophecy soon I’d have to change the name of the blog to something else. What I now realize is the blog never changed course – I did.

You see, this blog was never meant to be solely about Bible prophecy. It took me until now to realize that myself. Knowing the times is an issue of perception, mainly, the perception of truth. The thick, lingering haze of doctrines of devils disguised as modern church culture has dimmed the light of the truth to a level where even Jesus can no longer be seen by many. Since Jesus is truth personified (literally), any wandering step away from Him is a step away from rightly perceiving the truth.

Jesus, standing before Pontius Pilate, said, For this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth (John 18.37). Even then, standing face to face, darkness was at work obscuring the truth. I am persuaded that perceiving the truth is the pivotal objective of any generation, and obscuring the truth is the enemy’s only objective.

Knowing the times of our present generation can only be measured by how we’ve positioned ourselves in relation to Christ and His finished work. Any step the Church may take away from that truth should be our gravest concern, and meet our most solemn resistance. That is the course this blog took last year.

Now, for all of you prophecy gurus out there, don’t worry. This year is sure to yield its fair share of pure prophecy blogs. But you can count on even those to shine the spotlight on the real focus of all end-time prophecy – the One we affectionately know as Jesus!

I only hope all of you enjoy reading my blogs this year as much as I will writing them.
